Well of course, you have to put Miami first. They have pretty much the same team although some of their main players are getting older. But as long as you have Dwayne Wade, you've always got a chance. I put Cleveland second. The played the Pistons tough in the playoffs last year and if they can keep Larry Hughes healthy all season, they could be very dangerous. Lebron James needs no introduction and he will get them many wins by himself. After Cleveland, I would have to say Chicago. Again I expect them to be good, but I just don't know how good with the addition of Big Ben. They already have a great backcourt with Hinrich and Gordon along with Nocioni. Add Ben to the mix and they could be dangerous as well. The Central Division will be VERY interesting this year. As many problems as Indiana has, the should still be a good team although not on the level of the Pistons and the three teams I mentioned above. Besides maybe Washington, the rest of the East in my opinion is wide open as usual. It should be a close race again come plaoff time to see who gets in. What are your thoughts? Let me know. I'm out fans.

New Face Pistons

Another basketball season approaches us in less the 2 weeks and I can't wait. Yeah I love football and a little bit of baseball (props to the tigers...ill be watching tonight) but the Pistons is where my heart is. I'm looking forward to this season to see how they will adjust without the presence of Ben Wallace. That's the question on everybody's mind coming into this season. "How will the Pistons fare without Big Ben?". I was in a Barnes and Nobles the other day and picked up a basketball magazine and in it, had the predictions and previews of where the "experts" thought all the teams would finish. So of course I go and find the Pistons and to my surprise, this magazine had the Pistons with only 51 wins and thrid in the central. Now hold up a minute. That's a little over zealous don't you think? I understand the loss of Ben, but c'mon now. The team still has one of the best point guards in the league in Billups and they still have Hamilton who might I add gets better and better every season. Tayshaun Prince is still on the team who has also gotten better and better with each season, and even though Raseed Wallace is a year older, his production will still have a great impact on opponents throughout the season. Mcdyess will start and I'm curious to see how he will do playing more minutes this year instead of coming of the bench like last year.
The bench should be in good condition IF Saunders plays them like he should. Notice I said if, and in caps. He can't be doing the same bs as he did last year, playing the starters all those minutes. Maybe if you play your bench, they can get some experience and time, then they won't look lost when its their time to play. Maxiell impressed me in the preseason and Johnson showed some potential as well. These two could be key in the Piston's future.Flip Murray is a nice addition and along with Hunter, the point guard position should be in good shape. Along with Delfino, we also have Mohammed. I think Mohammed needs a little more production than what he did in San Antonio and I'll be satisfied. Again, there is no excuse for not playing the bench this year.
So how will the Pistons finish this year? It won't be third in the central barring any serious injuries. I say first or second in the central and second or third in the east. I have to see how well Chicago can play with Ben Wallace then I can have a clearer picture because its erie how Chicago reminds me of the upcoming Pistons about three years ago. They had made the playoffs two straight years, then Rasheed came and made all the difference. Could the sam happen to Chicago. They are a dangerous team. I'm out fans.

Check yourselves

I've decided to come off my hiatus. If you saw the game tonight you know why. Give Cleveland credit. Myself just like everyone out there gave them no chance to be where they are right now. But I say this to the Pistons, I say this because I am a fan. I love my team. I'm not giving up on you. But truth be told right now, you suck. You are a disgrace. The crap that you are doing on the court is not basketball. I see doubt in your faces. You seem to be scared. Scared of what? I have no idea. The arrogance of your team baffles me. You've gotten your asses beat three games in a row, yet we still hear from the mouths of Sheed and Chauncey "We're not concerned" Well you sure as hell better be concerned. Flip Saunders is doing nothing. I actually want to see LB sitting in the coaching chair now. Flip is not making adjusments. The defense is crap. This Detroit team wasn't based on doubling and playing zone defense. Flip has turned one of the best man defenses into league into a scrap. It seems that this Detroit team has lost their soul. They forgot where they came from and how they came up through the league. What happened to goin to work? It's very uncanny to them playing the Lakers the year they won the championship. Lakers never respected them. The Lakers were arrogant. Now the Pistons are doing the exact same thing. I don't know what else to say. If Cleveland wins, give them credit. I'm out.

Come on Pistons

Alright after the poor showing on Saturday, I hope the Pistons coe out more focused tonight. I thought these Pistons are the ones that take care of business, but from what I saw last night, it's the same as last year. Just making it hard on themselves. Even if the Bucks somehow pull out game 4 which I highly doubt, I still think the Pistons will win the series of course. Hopefully they'll come out mad. But also as I said in yesterday's post, Michael Redd wasn't producing. But yesterday he had 40 points as well as more free throw attempts in that one game than in the first two games combined. The other problem I saw was that other players on the Bucks got too involved. Let Redd have his 40 but shut everyone else down. Milwaukee aslo shot lights out however but I doubt that they will shot like that again....hopefully. Game 4 should be a good one. I think the Pistons will come out angry like I said and handle their business because they need to get this series done to rest RIP's ankle. The Cavs/Wizards series is at least going six in my opinion. We'll see Monday.

Playoff suspensions and the great games last night

I have seen more flagrant fouls and 1 game suspensions in these playoff than I have seen in recent years. I don't know if the refs are just cracking down or if the league is getting softer. There have been three suspensions so far: Haslem, Artest, and Posey. First of all, I don't know what Posey was thinking the other night. This is not hockey. How are you gonna size someone up like that just because they're kicking your butt? The whole Miami team was whining like a bunch of babies. I still think they'll get it together though. The Artest suspension really was needed if you ask me. Haslem had no business throwing his mouthpiece at one of the most no-nonsense refs out there.

But besides the suspensions and flagrant fouls, how about that Lakers/Suns game last night? There was a little tension in between those two teams as well. I'm loving this series right now. The Lakers have a chance to win this series and with Kobe only having 22 pts? That's unheard of. All of the Laker players stepped up yesterday and it's a wonder where this was all year.

The Cavs/Wizards game was another thriller. Some people think that Lebron travelled on the game winning shot which he may have. It was a great shot none the less. Gilbert Arenas had some cruel luck with the rim though. That was too good of a look to win it at the end. And how about those Kings. When you think about it, the Kings could possibly be up 2-1 in this series instead of down. I felt as though they gave away game 2 and they gutted it out in game three to win. Game four should be interesting although I think the Spurs will come out strong. Ginobili seemed to have some trouble with Artest back so that should be interesting as well.

Detroit Pistons @ Milwaukee Bucks...Game 3

So this has turned out to be the most uninteresting series in the whole NBA playoffs. With the series at 2-0, the Detroit Pistons have showed the Bucks no mercy blowing them out each of the two games. Michale Redd's production increased in game 2, but still nowhere near what he was in the regular season:

Games played: 2
Minutes per game: 36.8
PPG: 20.0
FGM-FGA: 7.0-16.5
FG %: .424
3PM-3PA: 1.0-2.0
3PT %: .500
FTM-FTA: 5.0-5.0
FT %: 1.000

The biggest thing that stands out to me besides the lower point production is the number of free throw attempts for the whole series. Granted many people would crown Redd as a jumpshooter first, I still would expect more free throw attempts than 5. But that just attests to how good the Pistons have been in my opinion. The Pistons have been serious from day 1 and the lethargic Pistons of last year are gone. This year's team is looking to take care of business quickly and painfully if you're a Bucks fan. Will the Buck's use some good ol home cookin' to get a win? Not from what I've seen the first two games. I'm gonna need to see a drastic change and I doubt that will happen. The game is on ESPN tonight @ 8 for all of you who have been complaining about no nationally televised games. But why would they put this series on TV with all the other series going on?lol. If San Antonio wins, they are tied with Dallas for that division lead. I'll take San Antonio at home just slightly but this game will definitley have a playoff intensity to it. The altitude maybe? Give Denver props though. It was a good win for them, but like the title says...ewwww....come on Pistons. Can we at least get a better effor than that. Now Dallas and San Antonio move ever so closer. So it's just another loss. Hopefully they'll get back on track. One more thing. What was up with the freakin rebounding!!That is one of the most annoying things to see when the Pistons get outrebounded like that.

Pistons sign Delk

Read the full article here:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2349608

Will this help the Pistons all that much? I'm a college student and I had midterms and other projects. So I will try to post as much as I can without leaving for milleniums at a time. Anyways, since I've been gone the all-star break has passed as well as some blockbuster trades as I'm sure all of you know (if you're real bball fans). For the Pistons, it was getting rid of Milicic and Arroyo for Kelvin Cato and his expiring contract which will allow the Pistons to resign Ben Wallace and Chauncey Billups and keep the starting five in tact. I wish Milicic and Arroyo well. I just came from a golf tournament in Daytona Beach and on the news, everybody is going crazy about Arroyo because there is a large population of Peurto Ricans in the area. Unlike many people in Detroit I've talked to, I had nothing against Arroyo. He didn't do a terrible job and to all you crazy people out there, JOE DUMARS IS NOT TRYING TO MAKE AN ALL BLACK TEAM. It's amazing the things you hear from people sometimes.

On to tonight's game. I think Cleveland will come out with a bit more fire than last night considering they got pushed around in my mind. Cleveland always plays the Pistons hard at home anyways so it should be a tough but winnable game for the Pistons, but what game isn't? ANY game the Pistons play is winnable. That's how good they are in my opinion. So let'sg go Pistons and keep some space between you, Dallas, and San Antonio. They are a little bit too close for comfort. I'm out.

The Piston Effect

Has anyone ever really notcied that every team that the Pistons have beaten in the palyoffs, the next year or right after, that team proceeds to collapes and implode? Let's look at my theory (I'm going back awhile here):

2001-2002 season playoffs: Detroit wins 3-2 against Toronto. Yes this was the Pistons very first palyoff run that started the team that you see here now at 35-5. With a lineup of Ben Wallace, Chucky Atkins, Jerry Stackhouse, Michael Curry and Cliff Robinson. The first year of the Carlisle era. Now as for Toronto, look how they have declined ever since that defeat. Havn't made the playoffs since then. Now let's keep going.

2002-2003 playoffs: The second year of a building process from the mind of Joe D. In the first round, Detroit was down 3-1 to Orlando. Pistons fans were frustrated. But somehow, they turned it around and won 3 straight. Now let's look at the Orlando team after that. Didn't make the playoffs the year after, and havn't since then. As for the second round, they beat Philly 4-2, but this is maybe the one exception seeing as Philly has continually made the palyoffs after that, and they seem to be a favorite opponent for the Pistons in the early rounds of the playoffs. Will we see them again this year?

2003-2004 playoffs...the championship year: Okay, the Pistons beat Milwaukee in the first round and they have been struggling for awhile although being in the weak eastern conference is helping them this year. Now let's look at New Jersey. They lose Kenyon Martin and Kittles after they are beaten and although the trade was made for VC last year, they did not make the playoffs, and once again the weak eastern conference is helping them this year as well. Next we look at the Pacers. What can you say? It seems that the Pistons can be to blame for every thing that has gone wrong since they beat them in the Eastern Conference Finals. Then of course the brawl and they made the playoffs last year but they get beat by who again? Yes that's right, the Pistons. And this year, they're in danger of not making the playoffs seeing as JO is out 8 weeks with a groin injury. Now of course we look at the Lakers. After the so called 5 game sweep of the Lakers, Shaq is traded, and the whole team is dismantled. They proceed to miss the playoffs the next year.

2004-2005 playoffs: Going for a repeat, the Pistons beat Philly again, and Indy again, but proceed to face the Heat who everyone picked to either win the whole thing or come out of the east. The Pistons win in seven games and now the Heat are not bad but their whole team is nowhere near what is was last year. Injuries have plagued them this year and they are 11 games behind the Pistons.

So you get my drift here? Every team that the Pistons have beaten in the playoff since the 01-02 playoffs, have never been the same since. Like I said, I call it the Piston Factor. Here's hoping the Pistons beat the Spurs in the finals because if the factor is correct, the Spurs will never be the same team again. Just a theory right?

A great game

What a game last night. Of course I can't watch the games so I was folowing it on ESPN.com. First of all, the game shouldn't have come to that. The Pistons were in control in the last few mintutes, but Michael Redd went off. That is something we're gonna have to stop. In the last few games not including the blowout at Minnesota, the Pistons have let Tmac and Redd go off for 40+. What's gonna happen when Kobe comes in to town? But in a way, isn't this how the Pistons play? Their philosophy usually entales keeping everyone in check and keep the "superstar" on the team somewhat in check but everyone knows that the superstars are going to get theirs ala Shaq and Kobe with the Lakers a couple of years ago. It usually works although it is very annoying for Pistons fans to see one guy continuously go off the whole game. But hey, we one the game and nobody else on the Bucks scored more than 15 so I guess you can say it does work. So 35-5 and five is where the Pistons sit. Right up there with the Tigers from '84. They are all the talk in Detroit from what I hear and the results from an ESPN.com poll shows that the majority of the country thinks the Pistons are the best team in the NBA. But I still think everybody needs to hold the 70 win talk until March.

Tonight: @ Minnesota

Well tonight, Flip Saunders returns to face the very same organization that fired him over a year ago. I guess that's the media sideline for the actual game tonight. Read what the Detroit News has to say about Flip's return.

As for the game. Minnesota is stuggling right now at 19-19. They were in the playoff picture for awhile but they are now 1 spot out. All year there have been Kevin Garnett trade rumors. Some rumors even said KG was coming to Detroit but I doubt any of those are true. Besides, Detroit is on a roll right now and I can't see Joe D. making any MAJOR changes to the roster. The Pistons come in winning seven straight. Depending on how Detroit plays, we could see another episode of the Madison Square Garden massacre.

In other NBA news, Chucky Atkins has signed with Memphis. It should be a good fit for him since he was seeking more playing time. There were rumors of him coming back to the D, but he wouldn't have gottent he playing time he wanted. There are also already three point guards here so he really couldn't fit anywhere. Good luck to him. I think Memphis will be just a little bit better since they are playing well as of late.

Not enough rocket fuel

Finally a close game for the Pistons, but they held off the Rockets late to win their seventh straight game. As I said in the previous entry, with McGrady being back, this could be a tough game for the Pistons. TMac came through with 43 points and almost single handedly won the game for the Rockets. Clearly with Rip missing the free throws late, I thought I would see some heroics from McGrady but luckily for Pistons fans, we didn't. So the train continues to roll as they get set for their next game against Minnesota. I'm out.

Today: vs. Rockets

Well coming off two blowout losses their last two games on the road, the Pistons come back home to play the still struggling Rockets. The Pistons should be WELL rested. They blew out the Knicks and Hawks on abck to backs and they got two days rest so I expect a good effort from them tonight. They just continue to roll and Flip Saunders has already locked up the Eastern Conference coach for the all star game. On the other side you have the Rockets who have been a disappointment this year. I saw many people picking them as the team to try and challenge San Antonio in the west but injuries have hurt them tremendously (Yao and Tmac). Tracy McGrady did return however and won their last game for them in OT so any game will be tough with Tmac in the game. Back later with thoughts on the game. Game starts at six. And if you want any Pistons tickets, you're probably outta luck until April. The sell out streak continues.

An ugly scene at Madison Square Garden

What an ugly scene at the Garden tonight. Apparently an NBA basketball game was scheduled to be played at 8, but only one team showed up. What a performance by the Pistons. I mean what more can you say that hasn't been said already? Everybody knows how good this team is and I find myself constantly saying the same things in my posts about this team. Everything has been said. They're balanced. Plain and simple. You don't know who is going to score next. I saw Rasheed knocking down three's and shooting turnaround jumpers. Then the next thing I know, Prince slides down the baseline for a dunk in Curry's face. Then Hmailton comes and slashes through the lane. I mean this has got to be a nightmare for any team. I've never seen such balance in my life. Then you have the Knicks. They started the new year 6-0 but have since fallen and they are falling fast. But as bad as their record is, they are only 4 1/2 games out of a playoff spot! That's how bad the Atlantic is. But I would've expected a better effort from the Knicks or maybe they did put forth an effort but the Pistons just exercised their will on them. Where there's a will there's a way I guess.

The unsung hero

I want to give some credit to the most underrated piece of this Pistons team. He doesn't play and no he is not part of the coaching staff. Today, I wan to give some credit to Arnie Kander, the Pistons strength and conditioning coach. When you look at the Pistons from when they first made the playoffs since the Bad Boy era in the 01-02 year up until now, the Pistons have had no real major injuries to their players. Of course they've had injuries but none like C.Webb that changed his career forever. No injuries like the one that's keeping Amare on the sidelines this year. Our players always seem to be healthy, especially when playoff time rolls around. You could make a case for the plantar fasciitis that Rasheed Wallace had or the sprained ankle that Billups suffered the year the Pistons got swept by the Nets but no serious injuries to keep one or more players sidelined for a major part of the season. Kander is one of the best in the biz and it shows. He keeps the players in top condition and while it may not eliminate the risk of injury, his training certainly reduces it greatly. Now if somebody gets injured tonight, don't blame it on me :).

Reunion Pt. 2

The Pistons will play their next game in New York and face Larry Brown for the second time this season. Of course they had to put it on national tv which is great for me because nationally telivised games are the only games I actually get to see. Otherwise I follow the games on NBA.com or wdfn.com when it's working. But I don't think anything special is to be made of the second meeting between the two teams although the media will try to as usual. Should be a good game although Marbury is out.

JUST SAW THIS ON ESPN:

Well another player into the stands tonight. No altercation occurred but Davis and his wife were escorted out of the arena. As for the game, it was a great one with Ben Gordon hitting the game winning shot in OT.

And another one...

Tonight's game was an expected win. Were the Pistons expected to beat the Hawks that badly? You could say so. But I am happy because they went in there and they took care of business. Now last year, they mightve lost focus in a game like this either by letting the Hawks back into the game or by simply not coming out strong from the start, but clearly this team is focused right now. It's just so good to see them playing like this. I can only hiope it keeps up. The GREAT thing about this game is that the starters are well rested and the bench got some good time. Carlos Defino put in some very good minutes and he seems to be improving every game. Like I've said before, by playoff time, the bench should be where they need to be in order to fully increase our already great chacne at winning a title. Maurice Evans also put in some good work tonight and even Milicic scored himself a bucket. So great win to keep the train rollin and now it's off to New York for a second reunion with LB.

Today: vs. Celtics

The Pistons play an MLK matinee game today as it seems they have been for awhile now. They host the Celtics, and as I said in a previous post, I expect this to be a tough game for the Pistons. The Celtics always play them tough and as Ben Wallace stated in the Detroit News, they are a scrappy team. Saunders further said that their record is deceiving and it is. With a good run, they could still make the playoffs in that weak Atlantic division although the Nets are playing well, at least they were during their 10 game winning streak. But I predict a hard fought win for the men in red, white, and blue as they are at home. I'll be back after the game with thoughts. Since I am not able to view the games on tv, I have to settle for following them on NBA.com. Apparently from reading a lot of Pistons forums, Ben was hurt for a minute but it didn't look like anything too serious. But like I said in the earlier post, the bench is coming around. Maurice Evans came up big with 18 pts and McDyess came up big as well. Milicic got some playing time, but I see he didn't do too much. They held the Bobcats right around their average for opposition points. Now for the next game, we play those pesky Celtics. The complete opposite has been true. While scoring more, their stifling defense is still present, especially when it comes down to crunch time in games. Although they may not be first or second in points allowed, they are still only allowing 90.8 points per game while still averaging nearly 99 points per game. Now they could rank in the top two in points allowed but please consider the fact that with the new offense the Pistons are running, the opposition is going to get more positions than last year. Many people fail to realize that. So combined with a good offense, the defense shows no signs of slowing down, and it is clearly a recipe for success as they have shown this whole season.

Tonight: Charlotte

Well first off, let me say sorry for my long layoff. I have had multiple things to do dealing with school and whatnot. But I'm back and since I've left, the Pistons have continued their winning ways. As of tonight, they stand at 28-5 after another blowout win against the Spurs. That was a great win and a great game played by the Pistons. One thing that I will say is that the bench is SLOWLY coming along but surely. I don't think it's as bad is many Piston fans make it out to be. I think by playoff time, the bench will be ready especially with Hunter coming back. Arroyo is doing his part although he was a bit of a hothead a couple of games ago, and McDyess is playing well. Also with all this time that has passed, we still have yet to see considerable playing time from Milicic. We'll see if that changes but right now, it doesn't.

Tonight, the Pistons head to Charlotte to play what seems like an easy game on paper, but you know how the NBA schedule can get. Some nights things just happen. So I'm expecting the Pistons to win tonight, and if they lose I will be disappointed. I have had some things to take care of with school and everything.

Now tonight the Pistons face the Grizzlies who are doing good this season. It will be a tough game for Detroit. Memphis is a team I like. They have a solid piece in Gasol and they've surrounded him with shooters such as Battier and Miller. That can attribute for their success so far this season. I expect them to be more of a force in the playoffs this year than they have in previous years. Detroit is coming of two blowout wins against Chicago and Charlotte. One thing that I keep hearing form a lot fo people is that the Pistons havn't played anyone which is hwy they have had the success and the NBA best record. But they way they handled Chicago and Charlotte tells me that they are taking care of business and besides, they have played playoff teams so I'm not buying it.

In other NBA news, San Antonio keeps rolling. I'm sure many Piston fans like me are watching the Spurs and they are keeping pace with the Pistons. They have one more loss than Detroit, but they are keeping ahead of Detroit with wins by one or two, mainly because San Antonio seems to be playing a game night and the Pistons seem to play once every week. That's how crazy the schedule has been.

Miami is rolling after Pat Riley has taken over, but what I'm not getting is how people are handing them the trophy already. Calm down people and show some respect.

Hack-a-Ben

After defeating the Clippers last night, the Pistons move to a league best 15-2 and 10-1 on the road. That's just amazing. 10 of their 15 wins have come on the road. Billups led the way last night and the Clippers in a desperate attempt to give themselves a chance to win the game, resorted to fouling Ben Wallace in the final five or four minutes of the game. Rasheed Wallace wasn't too particularly happy and neither were none of the other Pistons. But hey, it didn't work and now the Pistons are off to Utah to finish this west coast trip tonight. This could be a "trap" game for the Pistons. It looks like they'll win on paper but who knows what could happen. But the way the Pistons have been playing, I don't see them losing tonight. They just have an all around confidence and swagger about them. And if you've seen 'Sheed play lately, almost blatant arrogance which is kind of funny to me. Could Scottie Pippen be right?

Detroit News articles

Tonight: @ L.A. Clippers

Well the Pistons head to face the best team in L.A. No I'm not talking about the Lakers I'm talking about the Clippers. They are in first place in the Pacific. So basically hell has frozen over, pigs can fly, and I'll be in a Piston uniform tomorrow. But all jokes aside, the Clippers have a nice team and I say a lot can be attributed to Cassell and Mobley. Elton Brand has always had the talent and skill but now he's got some help along with Central Michigan star Chris Kaman. This will be no easy task for the Pistons although they've had good history against the Clippers in L.A. The Clips might have tired legs after their win over Phoenix last night so maybe the Pistons can catch a break.

Here at college in VA, I have a lot of friends from Detroit and are of course Pistons fans. With the Pistons great start, they are beginning to question whether or not the Pistons can win 70. As good as that sounds, I say more likely they'll win between 60 and 65 games. I know Pippen said they would win 70 also but we''l see where they stand around the trade deadline.

An article in the Detroit News today just reinforced my observation that I wrote yesterday. It talks about how the Pistons are not that thrilled with their start and they are just taking one game at a time, but there was a quote from the Golden State head coach that said you can literally see the Pistons "turn it on" and basically take over the game down the stretch. I knew I wasn't the only one who was seeing this. Click here for the article.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://pistonspower.blogspot.com/2005/12/tonight-la-clippers.html' title='Tonight: @ L.A. I didn't see the game seeing as I'm in VA with a college that doesn't have league pass, but I followed the game on NBA.com and it seemed to be close from the beginning. Golden State seemed to keep a 3-5 pt cushion for awhile until Detroit took over in the fourth. Now I don't know if Detroit is doing this on purpose, but it seems that some games they hang around the whole game whether they have a small lead or they are down by 5pts or more and then the fourth quarter comes and a switch goes on and the opponents look lost as if the barrage from the Pistons came out of nowhere. That's what is scary about this team. It seems as if they are just waiting to turn it on and even when they're down, they sometimes end up winning by a blowout. One thing I do say is that right now NOBODY can mess with San Antonio or Detroit. They are way ahead of everybody in the league and say with confidence that barring any injuries, you will see a rematch of last year's finals. Can't wait for the Christmas game matchup.

Tonight: Golden State

Pistons fans will finally see their team in action again. My matchup of the night is Davis vs. Billups.

Head to head stats:

Billups:

PPG: 17.0
Games Played: 15
MPG: 33.5
AST: 128
APG: 8.5
TO: 30
TOPG: 2.0
AP48M: 12.2
AST/TO: 4.27

Davis:

PPG: 16.4
Games played: 18
MPG: 36.8
AST: 168
APG: 9.3
TO: 56
TOPG: 3.1
AP48M: 12.2
AST/TO: 3.0

So as you can see, it's a pretty even matchup on paper with Davis leading in assists but Billups leads the league witht the lowest assist to turnover ratio.

Full game preveiw

Carlos Arryo: Good or Bad

Yes I know it's late but it's reading day here at my college and there is no school today. Plus my roommate keeps me up. But anyways, there has been an ongoing discussion in the Detroit News Piston Forum. Apparently, many feel that Arroyo is not doing a good job when he comes in to sub for Billups. There are also a few who believe that there is nothing wrong with Arroyo when he comes in. Some even went as far as to say that we need Arroyo to win the championship.......WHOA....that is where the line needs to be drawn. Now in my opinion, Arroyo has his nights when he can be on but he has more nights where he is quesitonable. It's still early in the season and granted the whole bench needs time to gel. I do notice however that the game does not run smoothly enough when Arroyo comes in to say, keep a big lead when we have one. I've noticed that for the past few games, when Arroyo comes in, things get stagnant and like I said, they do not run smoothly. I just think its one of those things that will get better as the season goes on. I'm not happy with Arroyo's production but I'm willing to give him some time especially after going through the drama of Larry Brown last year. Any thoughts?

The long layoff

Well I know Pistons fans are have been suffering over these looooong layoff between games. I was frustrated as to why the schedule maker would do this when someone told me that is has to do with the the Palace having the tendency to book a lot of events so the schedule maker is doing the best it can I guess.

Next game is @ Golden State

This should be an entertaining game. The matchup to watch out for on paper is Davis and Billups. They've had their share of battles going back to when Davis was with the Hornets. This game starts a little west coast road trip that the Pistons should have no problem with. Considering the long layoff, tired legs should not come into play. But they still have an increase in games starting tomorrow so I hope they enjoyed their time off. I say they n tomorrow night as long as they play to their capability but you can't underestimate this Warrior team this year. I actually like their team.

There are only two games tonight and the Pacers just won against the Wizards in a blowout. In my world, I never like to see the Pacers win.

Pistons articles

Brown comes back to the D

Well it's finally here. The infamous game when Larry Brown makes his first trip back to Detroit after everything taht went on between him and the Pistons front office. It should be interesting how Detroit fans react. I think there will be a mix of boos and cheers. In my opinion, there shouldn't be any booing period. Look at it from this angle. Brown was brought to Detroit to win a championship and that's what he did. He almost won another one. So what's all the beef about? What if he and the Pistons won game 7 of the finals last year? Do you think Brown would still be here? It would look kind of funny to fire a coach after winning two championships. But we'll never know. I say that all Piston fans should be thankful to Larry Brown for what he did during his time here. Although he left to go to New York after talking about it during the season last year, was that really a surprise? That's what Larry Brown does. HE LEAVES. All Piston fans knew this when he came in 03, and if they didn't, they don't know basketball so it really shouldn't have been a surprise when he left.

Now to the game which isn't even the big attraction tonight according to the media. I say Detroit keeps on going with their winning ways. They're 5th in the league in scoring right now at 99.5 points per game and they're at home. As for New York, I feel that they may finally be learning the ropes of Larry's new system. It may take them all year but I think they still make the playoffs in that weak Atlantic division.

Here are some interesting articles and an interview with Larry Brown in the Detroit News.
